I was trying to take dramatic pictures of myself (see other blog) and he got in the middle of it. His pictures turned out better, and no Irfanview.

Something clicked, bubblewise. I was blowing the big ones toward him and he suddenly realized there was sport in NOT destroying them right away. He blew them back to me. But then he got all into it, and started spitting also, and contorting his face in these hilarious ways, and the spitting ended up bursting the bubbles too. So we took pictures. Hope you get the idea.

Yeah it's from last April. So sue me.

You know, if someone were nice enough to give me a bath, I'd try very hard not to poop in that bath. And if I, for whatever reason, ended up pooping in that bath, I absolutely wouldn't take said poop in my hands and paint the walls with it.

Actions like this just don't say, "Hey, Mom, thanks for giving me a bath! Thanks for taking time out of your fulfilling life to give me one!"

Holy crap, it's been a long time. The Bug is like, this whole human being now with all kinds of English. He can also be a monster, though he's less so with me than with the ones who spoil him. He's getting more beautiful. Need to find pictures.

Caitlin Flanagan wrote that something about motherhood snapped into place for her, or at least became easier, when she first heard her son bless her after a sneeze. A similar thing has happened this week with me. The Bug has emerged as a social, quick-thinking, talkative little guy, but for me, something snapped when he started hugging me. Never when I ask for it - surely not, no! - but on his own, at random. He squeezes now, and sometimes gives me that little "just friends" pat.

He is so much work, and often I fight him for every little thing, but he has the power to fix it all in one tiny moment. To make it worthwhile. I suppose that means he'll also have the power, later, to dash me against the brick wall, but I'll enjoy this for now.

Phone Catchup

Here comes months of shots taken with the phone, most of which I couldn't see because it was too bright outside.

Ma said that from about eighteen months and on, she couldn't keep books away from me. Right on schedule, The Bug got into books. He always loved stories, but suddenly he's ravenous.

He never snuggled with anything, never had a favorite toy or blankie, but the last couple of days, he's snuggled down with a book in bed and gone right to sleep.

He's been sleeping through for the last few weeks, thank god. The doctor said it was time to let him scream. It took about two days, but it was worth it, and we're all happier, Bug included.

Catchup again

I'd probably buy something from this kid. Like time shares.

Best picture ever?

My boys today at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles.

Picking noses

Feeding him to a bear

It took at least half a dozen tries to get this shot. He kept looking down. God!

This picture was my idea. Cause I'm so funny.
